Strengthening Curriculum using the Internet

OK, you've been researching several possibilities that will address your curriculuar goals and objectives. Now it's time to take a look at the formats for introducing the activity to your students. Two ways that this can be done is by modeling the activity or by introducing a framework for learning.

Modeling Examples

Modeling is done when only one activity is assigned. As the instructor, your task will be to explain what the goal and objectives are then demonstrate the procedure to complete the activity. Although assessment hasn't been introduced in this PREscription model, clearly presenting to the students what is being assessed is also covered at this time. Two kinds of modeling examples include:

• Hotlist
• Treasure Hunt

Framework Examples

Framework examples are more comprehensive and involve several activities within that framework. Examples include:

• WebQuests
• Project Based Learning
• Problem Based Learning (Big 6)
