is discovered. Teaching students "netiquette" behavior for using
the Internet should be a common element for every lesson.

This interactive slide show uses well-known Disney characters
and offers a fun way to learn safety and netiquette
rules for the Internet. This web site can be viewed
as a whole group for emergent readers and as small group
activity for proficient readers. Have your students
create classroom posters for online safety after they
view these sites. Older students can view this site then
create posters for online safety rules for younger students.

Safety on the Internet
- When you teach a unit on safety, bookmark this site. This
site offers safety tips for the Internet, fire, drug, strangers,
and more.
- D. KidzPrivacy
- In an effort to put parents in the catbird seat, the Federal
Trade Commission has established new rules for website operators
to make sure that kids' privacy is protected while they're
online. These rules are part of the 1998 Children's Online
Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
